  • For Fall 2024: A 50% refund of tuition is available for all MYS musicians if they need to withdraw from participating by August 31. Beginning September 1, there will be no refunds available for any ensemble.

Scholarship Opportunities

Dr. David Littrell Scholarship Fund

The Dr. David Littrell Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 in honor of Dr. David Littrell, founder and conductor of the Gold Orchestra (now the Manhattan Youth Symphony). Dr. Littrell founded the Gold Orchestra program in 1988, with a vision for helping students develop excellence both in musical performance and in personal character. Since its inception, the program has been a key part of the Manhattan community, and served thousands of students in their formative years. The purpose of this scholarship fund is to honor Dr. Littrell’s legacy and founding work, and to further expand the opportunity for students in the Manhattan and surrounding areas to be involved in the Manhattan Youth Symphony.

Dr. David Littrell Scholarships are designed to help musicians and families with financial need to obtain aid for Tuition Assistance and/or Rock Springs Ranch Retreat Fees (SO & GS only) associated with participating in the Manhattan Youth Symphony (MYS)

The application form provides information to establish financial need. MYS reserves the right to approve or decline any application based on other circumstances and considerations. Applicants can apply for up to 75% assistance per musician.

Separate applications are required for each musician, even if musicians are within the same family. Information provided in the application is considered private and will not be viewed by anyone other than the MYS Scholarship Committee.
